The first time I performed outside of school was in the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. I performed spoken word.  It was just the natural thing for me to do and a great segway into doing what I always wanted to do which was music. In the years that followed I would go to win spoken word “battles” and perform all over New York City.

Like taking a photograph of a memory I decided to record my performance poems. I know this very unlike my usual post, but before I start with the new, It is important to finish the old rather than abandon it. We must never simply abandon the things we loved or the people we were. We should put it in a place where we will be able to remember and complete that stage of our lives so we can move on to the next. This way life is more of a progression rather than a series of events.
